Exactly. I saw The Kids Are Alright and Live at the Isle of Wight and was completely blown away. The Who are amazing. BTW, I've got a biography of Keith Moon called Moon the Loon. It was written by his personal minder,Dougal Butler, and it's totally amazing to read. They come out as complete bastards, though, but who cares?

His drumming's the coolest. Check out the bashing on 'Heaven and Hell', 'Young Man Blues' (one of my faves) and 'Sparks' (live versions). They're totally amazing, and 'Won't Get Fooled Again' wouldn't be the same without Moony.

BTW, if you want to read about complete, utter bastards, you should read Old Gods Almost Dead about the Rolling Stones. Massive talent, but total burks.

Keith Moon used to be addicted to explosives... he would often bomb the toilet of the hotel they stayed in!
The destruction of the equipment was of course, a The Who trademark...

To Shweta: I can see my sidebar, but day before yesterday, I was having some problems with the comments section - it wasn't formatted at all. I'm puzzled. Maybe there's a problem with Blogger.

To Salil: I used to look up to rockstars when I was 14 or so, but later I realised that many of them are violent, self-obsessed, sexist bastards. But I still like the music. If you want to see destruction of equipment, you should check out The Kids Are Alright. It's available from the British Library.
